“The Originals” was supposed to be a more mature version of ‘The Vampire Diaries’ and Julie Plec’s first production geared toward a slightly older audience. It can be said that to some extent the producer and writer has achieved this goal. Unlike “TVD,” the spin-off doesn’t focus on the amorous turmoil of youth, but rather on power struggles, intrigue, and the psychological and emotional development of the characters, especially in the case of Klaus Mikaelson, the main protagonist.
